Young Justice: Outsiders - 5 Ups & 2 Downs From The Midseason Premiere

4. Focusing On The Younger Characters

Though it has only featured in a few episodes so far, the Metahuman Youth Center subplot has already proven to be one of the most engaging storylines of the whole season. Granted, it did initially seem like an unusual contrast to the loud explosions and fights that were taking place in the main storylines, but that in itself is exactly why it worked - it grounded the episodes and reminded us that, yes, there are consequences to the events that take place within in this world and that people are indeed affected by them.

Speaking of those people, it was nice to see characters like LiveWire and Windfall receive some attention because, instead of focusing on the idea of metahuman trafficking, it gave the spotlight to the metahumans themselves - and this ultimately gave Young Justice the chance to once again deliver some of that great character development that it does oh-so-well.

As enjoyable as this season has been so far, it has been missing that youthful energy that the show was once renowned for, so this was a nice return to form - and it was all enhanced by the returns of Season 2 fan-favourites Eduardo "Ed" Dorado Jr., Blue Beetle and Bart Allen.
