Young Justice: Outsiders - 6 Ups & 2 Downs From The Season 3 Premiere

The premiere's opening moments saw an important meeting between Justice League members go south rather quickly, with Batman, Green Arrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Hardware, Katana and Plastic Man all resigning from the team in protest of increasing restrictions placed upon them by the United Nations. This has undoubtedly set up an interesting story going forward, particularly because Batman took Robin with him. However, this, along with the fact that Superman and Wonder Woman are in space, is a blessing in disguise.

This bold story move comes after certain key Justice League members were absent from the show last season (as they all had to stand trial on Rimbor). As the show ended up thriving in their absence, it makes sense that Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti would come up with another clever way of limiting the appearances of various League members this season.

As great as these heroes are, they aren't the stars of the show and, quite frankly, too much of these larger-than-life characters tends to rob the spotlight from the young protagonists. While characters like Black Canary and Red Tornado have allowed the likes of Nightwing, Superboy and Miss Martian to learn from them and ultimately bloom, the never-failing grandeur of Batman and Superman can often make their less battle-worn protégées seem redundant in their own show.

Now that these big-time players will seemingly have less of a role on the show again this year, the spotlight can firmly remain on the young team.
