Being on DC's streaming service, the Young Justice creative team now have much more leeway when it comes to the type of content they can produce. No longer are they limited by commercial breaks nor are they under pressure to conform to TV standards.

This was all clear from the first episode, as the show possessed a more mature tone, briefly venturing into violent territory. However, the writers must be commended for not taking any unnecessary liberties. Unlike Titans, which went a little too far with its lack of limitations, Young Justice: Outsiders pushes on the show's boundaries without trying too hard to break them.

Sure, the scene in which the Markovian King and Queen were killed was a little graphic, but it wasn't done in a tasteless way that detracted from what the show is all about. After all, Young Justice never shied away from topics like murder before, so allowing us to see the crime committed actually enhanced the narrative and added a more grown-up feel to the show - which went hand-in-hand with the fact that the characters themselves have grown in the two year gap.

The Young Justice creative team was well-aware of the fact that there were less restrictions on the DC Universe and decided to use them sparingly instead. Just as the episodes are only two minutes longer, the newly-added violence wasn't excessive, highlighting that the show managed to go further than before without ever going too far. As a result, Young Justice has evolved while still retaining what made it so great.
