6. Unfinished Business

'Private Security' may have revolved around its titular mission, but it also set some time aside for the continuation of one of the show's more poignant long-running stories. Following a rendezvous between Artemis and Dr. Fate, it was revealed that Nabu had struck up a deal with Zatanna - the daughter of his host body, Zatara - during which he would remove his helmet for an hour per year, allowing the magician to spend some quality time catching up with her father.

The Zatanna/Dr. Fate saga has been developing since the show's first season, when Zatanna was forced to put on the Fate helmet to save the Justice League. However, Nabu intended on taking permanent control of her body and only agreed to release her when Zatara offered himself up as a substitute. It was touched upon throughout Season 2, but it began to play more of a background role as the show went on and became one of the many loose ends that never got wrapped up upon its cancellation. That is, until now.

The fact that this agreement has been in place for some time suggests that Zatanna's relationship with Dr. Fate became somewhat less frosty during the two year gap as he clearly trusted her to stick to her word. Moreover, seeing Zatanna and Zatara reunited after all this time was a sight that was undoubtedly worth the wait and it made for an incredibly emotional moment, giving us hope that their story isn't over quite yet.
