Young Justice: Outsiders – 8 Ups & 1 Down From Episodes 4-6
2. Dick's Character Development
With years of experience behind him, Dick Grayson has proven time and again that he is arguably the most efficient hero on the team. However, we have also seen on many occasions that he is an incredibly flawed individual, and this was once again highlighted in Season 3 when his personal feelings clouded his judgment.
From his refusal to tell his reunited team about Barbara to his complete lack of care about the new metahumans, Dick was starting to lose his own identity and it became clear that, as he soon admitted himself, he was no longer a team player. Though he sounded inconsiderate and self-righteous, it didn't take Roy Harper (or "Will" as he calls himself now) long to figure out what was causing his out-of-character behaviour.
During their comedic adventure with Bowhunter Security, Dick accidentally referred to Roy as "Wall" instead of Will. In that moment, everything became clear - he was still hurting from the supposed death of Wally West. Though he denied it at first, the slip soon made him see the error of his ways and, as a result, he returned to Superboy's house and agreed to help the metahumans.
Dick is undoubtedly a complex character and, although he overcame his inner conflict, it was rather touching to see that Wally's death was still affecting him two years later. But admitting it has now allowed him to move past his grief and finally rediscover who he always was.
