1 Up & 6 Downs From AEW Rampage (March 29 - Results & Review)
3. An Ultimately Pointless Main Event
Yours truly is a big 'Daddy Magic' fan, but it's painfully obvious that Matt Menard's AEW future lies behind the broadcast table rather than in lengthy matches. Here, he worked one of those overdone eliminator thingies vs. Roderick Strong. Win in front of his countrymen, then Matt would get a future International Title crack.
Roddy won, thus rendering the whole exercise completely pointless.
Worse, Best Friends duo Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta jogged out to help Menard after the Undisputed Kingdom had already used the numbers game to their advantage and scored the win. In other words, Cassidy and Beretta were late to the party and absent when their mate needed them most. Cool.
This was just the latest in a long, long, long run of AEW title stuff that ultimately means next to nothing for longer than 15 minutes. Being brutally honest, it's getting hard to get yourself fired up as a fan when you know something won't matter come the following episode.
