1 Up & 6 Downs From AEW Rampage (March 29 - Results & Review)

1. The Virtuosa Shows A Different Side

Deonna Purrazzo Rose
AEW

Here it is - a nugget of gold floating in a sea of trash.

Admittedly, especially given everything else going on during the show, this guy went into Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rose expecting little more than a routine squash. It was actually more than that. Way more. Deonna showed off a bit of bite, and the commentary team looped that back to her frustrations over how things have been going recently.

That was a nice and simple bit of storytelling combined with some character development. Purrazzo's segment is the kind of product-pleasing content Tony Khan must write more of. He's prepping Deonna for another go at Toni Storm, so it was always gonna be important that she showed off something more than, 'Hi, I'm AEW's latest arrival' for any rematch.

Shout out to Rose for maximising her minutes during this All Elite debut too. The indy regular can be real proud of how she measured up against one of the bigger names in the women's division. Their match turned out to be more useful than a basic squash, and even added a new wrinkle to Purrazzo's game in the process.
