Heads were turned when WWE announced they'd released former NXT star Keith Lee from his contract in November 2021. Previously, Lee had seemed like a can't miss prospect, and it looked like the company knew it when booking him in spots opposite top names like Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

PWTorch's Wade Keller later reported that "attitude problems" were partly to blame for Keith's exit, but the man himself has refuted those. Lee, who joined AEW shortly after leaving WWE, cited serious health problems and a disconnect with the crummy "Bearcat" gimmick he was tasked with playing.

That flopped in a hurry on Raw, so WWE scrambled to point the finger of blame. It couldn't be that creative farted out something awful, eh? No, Lee was surely the one who had to shoulder responsibility for "Bearcat" completely failing to capture the imaginations of main roster fans.

Why didn't they just let the guy do what he'd been doing on NXT? He had a puncher's chance with that presentation.
