10 Scapegoats For RUBBISH WWE Ideas

7. Cody Rhodes Isn't Helping Stardust

If Keith Lee felt disconnected from WWE's creative processes in 2021, then he needed only spare a thought for Cody Rhodes several years before. Cody was having a thoroughly miserable time as Stardust, and he wanted nothing more than to shed the goofy guise to become himself again.

The writers didn't see it that way, and neither did Vince McMahon.

Clearly, some behind the scenes believed Rhodes was just being difficult by trying to push his way out from behind the face paints, but that's unfair. Cody did everything he could to make Stardust work, but the gimmick had a short shelf life and he blatantly needed change.

This idea that Rhodes just needed to hang on and embrace Stardust is laughable. He did, but how much more could anyone be expected to stomach? WWE likely thought Cody would regret requesting his release in 2016. Not a chance. He backed himself, it worked, and then he returned to the promotion as a mega-star (not a mega-Stardust).
