Arriving to much fan fare on one of AEW’s most historic nights at All Out 2021, Ruby Soho looked set to prove why WWE got her so wrong during her fruitless run with the company.

Unfortunately, in the year since, she has done more to prove them right as she just hasn’t delivered. This writer takes no pleasure in saying that, as, yes, her booking hasn’t helped, but between the ropes, Soho hasn’t set the world on fire.

Losing her first few big matches didn’t help her cause, but there has been little from Soho’s in-ring or promo performances that screams she should be a major consideration in the women’s division; a division that has been screaming for someone to take it by the scruff of the neck and standout.

There are two AEW Women’s belts and no one has the Runaway pegged as a viable contender for either, which in less than a year, shows how far her stock has fallen with the fan base.

With strong hands like Martinez and Deeb in the ROH women's division, Soho could use the step to refresh her character, re-establish herself as a force, and doing it out of the shadow of the likes of Britt Baker and Jade Cargill seems like a smart move.

Ruby could still prove to be a decent investment by Tony Khan, but she needs the chance to actually do it.
