10 AEW Stars Who Desperately Need More TV Time
4. Private Party
The most glaring example of a wider problem where guys just don’t resonate as stars if they wrestle pretty much all of their matches on Dark and Dark Elevation. Private Party’s title shot felt completely out of the blue because we hadn’t seen them wrestle a tag match on TV in months. Suddenly fans are expected to receive them as credible number one contenders.
Look back to Fiter Fest or Fight For The Fallen in 2019 and it’s incredible to see how over Private Party were, with their flashy offense and personality to spare. They had room for improvement between the ropes so it made sense to put them under the wing of tag team legend Matt Hardy for a bit of fine tuning.
You have to assume Hardy’s advice has been invaluable behind the scenes, but on TV the Private Party boys have been reduced to sidemen in some of AEW’s most energy sapping storylines. Hopefully the Hardy/Andrade story sees them break the holding position they’re stuck in. They deserve a more prominent role.
