10 AEW Wrestlers Who Have Been Booked Terribly In 2022
5. Darby Allin
The strange thing here is, Darby Allin wins. A lot.
Although they have never received a tag title shot, he and Sting have never lost a match as a team in nearly two years. The rankings fell off a cliff a long time ago, but if teams like the Ass Boys can challenge, why hasn't one of AEW's biggest stars?
Because, sadly, he isn't anymore. Allin is a ratings draw. That's been proven, and his look is mimmicked by so many young fans, he seemed destined to be the major home grown talent to get to the top. In 2022, there is no denying that whatever momentum he had, has stalled completely.
When was the last time you were truly excited for a Darby Allin match? CM Punk at All In? That was over a year ago, and since then, he's been featured regularly, but with little to no stakes. No offence to Jay Lethal, but what point was there for Allin to face him the other week and then tell him he's better than hanging around with Singh and Dutt?
The young man has felt directionless for nearly a year now, and gone are the days where he was besting Cody Rhodes or pushing Jon Moxley to his limit. Allin doesn't even exist in the same stratosphere as the main event in AEW anymore, which is a shame, especially as he was such a prominent part of their early years.
