10 AEW Wrestlers Who Have Been Booked Terribly In 2022
2. Ruby Soho
Heralded as a game changer from the moment she walked through the curtain at All In back in September 2021, the former Ruby Riott looked set to become a major player in the often under utilised AEW Women's division. Overlooked by WWE for too long, everyone was ready for Ruby Soho to show us what she could do.
Sound familiar?
It feels a little like Ruby Soho walked so that Athena could run, as it took Soho a little longer to become a complete irrelevance in All Elite Wrestling. This was an open goal for Tony Khan, and he air kicked his shot.
Soho has been a staple on any list of under utilised stars for the past five years, as in WWE, she was given short shrift. The grass has proven to be less green on the other side, as her booking has been based on lots of opportunities and no conviction behind them.
She challenged for the AEW Women's Championship. She lost. She challenged for the AEW TBS Championship. She lost. She got to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup (Remember that?). She lost.
As we will see in the next entry, defeat after defeat, especially in the matches that matter, can have a damaging effect on any superstar. Nobody buys Soho as a threat to either belt and the monumental pop she received when she walked out at All In must feel like a different life entirely.
