10 AEW Wrestlers Who Have Been Booked Terribly In 2022

And here he is. The controversy magnet.

To be fair, Guevara's year was already cooked, long before the reports of backstage issues with the aformentioned Eddie Kingston and Andrade.

For some bizarre reason, Tony Khan thought transposing Guevara and Tay Melo's real life relationship onto the screen would work for the two of them. Before then, both were flying high as exciting, young babyfaces and Guevara was trying to kickstart a TNT Title run that hadn't really gotten going.

The result was a disaster.

The two of them came across as arrogant and superior to everyone else, and the following feud with Dan Lambert and the Men of the Year is one of the worst booking decisions that Tony Khan has made. it completely turned the crowd on Guevara, another one of the pillars who has struggled since the influx of 'ready made' stars have come in.

With nowhere really left to go, they confirmed the heel turn and had Guevara join the Jericho Appreciation Society, trying to haul back some kind of magic for Guevara's rapidly declining popularity. The backstage behaviour has pretty much put a nail in that coffin, and over the past few weeks, the 'Spanish God' has been receiving go away heat from the fans.

He may be his own worst enemy, but given the way he has been booked this year, Sammy might just see Tony Khan as a close second.
