You would struggle to find a debut as simple yet effective as Tazz announcing himself to the WWF audience during the Royal Rumble PPV in early 2000.

Kurt Angle opened the event with a scathing, pompous promo running down the New York crowd, flaunting his impressive undefeated streak. The Olympic Gold Medallist infuriated the crowd to the point that when the emphatic heart beat intro of Tazz's music hit, he was met with an immediate, deafening pop.

The ensuing one on one match was a showcase of Tazz's wide array of suplexes and no-nonsense attitude. Despite only coming in at just over three minutes, the match benefited from a nuclear hot crowd and the palpable intrigue surrounding Tazz in the WWF.

With Tazz winning through the controversial choke hold (later renamed the Tazzmission) Angle had a legitimate argument following his first ever defeat and Tazz was made to look like a he was on the fast track to the main event.

Unfortunately, this debut aside, Tazz's WWE run was a mishmash of poor booking, injuries and candy jars to the face.

By the following year, the former ECW Champion and Human Suplex Machine had made the transition into colour commentator. In doing so, he left behind a rollercoaster in-ring career that featured one of the most memorable debuts in WWE history.
