10 Amazing WWE World Title Wins (That Led To Lame Championship Runs)
5. Seth Rollins
The problem with Seth Rollins was that he played the cowardly, opportunistic heel simply too well. From the demise of The Shield onwards, you could rely on Rollins to do something sneaky, and his snatching of the Heavyweight Championship during the main event of WrestleMania 31 was the apex of this persona.
It didn’t help that Rollins was interrupting a little anticipated (if ultimately very good) bout between Lesnar and Reigns, and he stole the show as well as the title with his heist of the century.
He enjoyed a lengthy title run, but was booked as such a wimp that he had few great memories to savour. He clung onto the title through the grace of his dad Triple H and backing from J&J Security. He got stomped to dust by Brock Lesnar at Battleground, surviving only thanks to the returning Undertaker.
He had some super matches: becoming a double champ at SummerSlam versus John Cena springs to mind, but even here he required intervention from Jon Stewart of all people. Giving up the belt due to injury was the cherry on the cake. The title win made Rollins, but the run could have been far better.
