8. Battle Royals

Right, be honest here. When was the last time you thought any Battle Royal was the highlight of a wrestling card? AEW's 'Casino' efforts are arguably less-irritating than WWE's formulaic brawls, but no multi-man presented in this style is ever going to light up the night or be deemed essential.

They're often 20 minutes of clear filler, and never enchant at all until only a few names are left standing in the ring. Frankly, this writer hasn't actually enjoyed a Battle Royal since clapping eyes on his first way back at WrestleMania IV. Since then, every announced multi-wrestler fray not called the Royal Rumble has been met with disappointment.

'Urgh, this again'. That sort of thing.

Worse, WWE seem intent on pretending that Battle Royals are some must-have addition to major pay-per-views like 'Mania, or that anybody cares who wins some bogus trophy they never mention again for 12 months. Similarly, AEW's aforementioned 'Casino' variant is just as played out.
