8. ‘Brock Lesnar Arrives At WWE Headquarters'

In 2004 Brock Lesnar shocked the wrestling world by abandoning his main event, high-paying gig in WWE in order to pursue an NFL career. WWE obviously weren’t thrilled with Lesnar quitting at the time on such short notice. One of the stipulations of WWE letting Lesnar loose of his contract was making him sign a non-compete clause which prohibited him for working for any other wrestling organisation until at least 2010.

After his NFL dream was over, Lesnar set his sights on making a return to wrestling for monetary reasons. Lesnar got around the non-compete clause by filing a lawsuit against it and WWE and started negotiating with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The lawsuit was eventually dropped when Lesnar and WWE began talks of Lesnar possibly returning to WWE, with fans being oblivious to these developments.

In July 2005 WWE.com shockingly posted ‘Brock Lesnar Arrives At WWE Headquarters’. They even posted photos of him at Titan Towers as well as a brief interview with Lesnar where he claimed “I’ve had some contractual disagreements with WWE, as well as a lawsuit. But I'm ready now to see if we can do some business together.” This excited fans, hoping he could feud with World Champions at the time John Cena and Batista.

WWE and Lesnar wouldn’t come to be in 2005, as they could not agree on a working schedule, with Lesnar wanting a part time gig and WWE wanting him back full-time. It would be another 7 years until Lesnar appeared on WWE screens again. It was shocking WWE.com would report of these negotiations in 2005. It certainly didn’t report on his negotiations in 2012.
