Thankfully, the restrictions didn't come during the 2020 Royal Rumble otherwise we would have been robbed of the greatest Rumble return in history. Sadly, however, the initial excitement and speculation around Edge's time with WWE was less exciting than it could have been thanks to an unfortunately timed injury and a lack of crowd.

Edge is a performer that has always had strong resonance with the fans, whether that be as a detestable heel, or later in his career a beloved babyface. As a wrestler, he seems to thrive off of his interactions with the audience, and as such, it is incredibly disappointing that his return after his almost decade long absence wasn't able to play out in front of a live crowd.

The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever (according to WWE) between him and Randy Orton certainly benefitted from the introduction of ambient noises, which was direly missed in their WrestleMania bout. But again it seems that 2020 truly struck this nine-year awaited return tragically.
