10 Awesome Heel Vs. Heel Wrestling Matches

9. World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Ladder Match (2013)

Okay, this might be considered cheating a little, but this was a ladder match featuring seven heels and not a babyface to be seen. Nobody expected much from it going in, but the seven-man extravaganza ended up blowing those non-existent expectations away.

It wasn't just seven heels; it was seven heels who had largely been spinning their wheels in the middle of the card, four of whom had actually been working predominantly in the tag team division. Dean Ambrose was the slight favourite, although fans also believed that (then still Antonio) Cesaro and Wade Barrett were just as likely. Nobody expected Jack Swagger or Fandango to win, but they were still vaguely relevant in their roles.

Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow rounded out the competition, and it was the fire of the former that helped lift this match above all expectations. This was Cody's coming out party, a chance for the future American Nightmare to show just how explosive he could be. It all came to nought though, as Cody was betrayed by former partner Sandow. The Intellectual Saviour of the Unwashed Masses came out on top, and we all know how that ended up.

A ladder match between seven heels had no right being this good. More so than most matches in this list, the 2013 World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank ladder match (quite the mouthful) shows the folly of rigidly sticking to a babyface vs. heel formula.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
