10 Awesome Heel Vs. Heel Wrestling Matches

2. The Shield Vs. The Wyatt Family (WWE Elimination Chamber 2014)

Arguably the greatest WrestleMania match that didn't actually happen at the Showcase of the Immortals, this was a special match before the bell even rang. The crowd at WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 knew it, busting out as a 'this is awesome' chant before the match had even begun.

From that point on, this six-man battle between two major heel factions became a showcase for everything that made the six men great, from the athleticism of Seth Rollins to the unpredictable violence of Luke Harper via every single stop in between. In the end, the unity of the Wyatts saw them overcome the rapidly-disintegrating Shield, and this match was another nail in the coffin for the Hounds of Justice.

Both groups soon moved onto new stories, but this was very much a rare example of WWE capturing lightning in a bottle and allowing it to spark. The chemistry between the two units was off the charts, synchronicity amplified by a molten crowd. It looked for all the world as though WWE had six future stars on their hands and countless stories to tell.

Who would have thought a six-man tag between heel teams could create such excitement?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
