10 Awesome Ideas WWE Suddenly Stopped Doing
6. Cesaro Is A Paul Heyman Guy
The story of Cesaro is one of pure heartbreak for wrestling purists. Here was a man with astonishing in-ring abilities and a thrilling set of skills that helped to get him over with die-hard fans. But, there was always a barrier to his success, which Vince McMahon put down to a "lack of charisma" and "verbal skills" on an episode of the Steve Austin Podcast. Thankfully, someone had the great idea of pairing him with a manager who could carry this work for him. It's just a shame it didn't last.
Cesaro, or Claudio Castagnolia as he is known outside of WWE, separated from his manager Zeb Coulter in April 2014 in favour of becoming a Paul Heyman guy. Fans were delighted as this seemed like a prime chance for the Swiss Superman to get a decent run and break out into the main event. Heyman is one of the best mic-workers in company history, so their combined strength should have made a megastar.
Sadly, a collection of losses started piling up, and a few months later, he shockingly broke it off with Paul E. WWE was as quick to abandon this storyline as AEW was to pick Cesaro up after he was released. Oh, how things could have been.
