Who could have possibly predicted the impact Broken Matt Hardy would have on the wrestling industry? Sure, matches filmed outside of wrestling rings didn't originate with the Hardy Brother, but he certainly helped popularise them with The Final Deletion. This strange wrestling endeavor became an eventual lifeline for WWE during the pandemic era.

It became surprisingly commonplace to see cinematic matches in WWE during the coronavirus pandemic, as it was a unique way to create thrilling matches that worked around the lack of a live audience. The Boneyard match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 was an instant classic, and John Cena vs. The Fiend at that same event also made fans happy.

Not only did cinematic matches serve to benefit rivalries, but they also played a part in major WWE events such as Money in the Bank. Still, WWE was quick to abandon the concept as soon as audiences returned to the fray.

Some might say that the Bloodline storyline is a hybrid of traditional wrestling and these movie-like experiences, as it blends acting/drama with in-ring work. Still, it's a shame there can't be a few more bizarre cinematic moves every now and again.
