10 Awesome One-Time WWE Champions

2. Eddie Guerrero

Sadly, to speak about the fact that Eddie Guerrero only held the WWE championship once is to remind us that his life was cut tragically short at the age of just 38.

It's almost certain that he would have held the belt at least one more time were it not for his premature passing, with many reports claiming that he was set to win the thing from Batista to set up a big WrestleMania program the following year (not that it really matters).

At the least, Guerrero's lone world title run was eventful. He first lifted it at No Way Out 2004 with a pulsating victory over Brock Lesnar, and beat Kurt Angle a month later in his first defence, both of them going down as two of the best matches of the entire decade.

The emergence of JBL saw that his reign didn't last beyond the spring, but it wasn't for a lack of crowd support. He will surely go down as one of the most popular wrestlers ever to wear the strap, however brief it may have been.
