Look, I'm not even going to begin to deny the name 'The Ultimate Warrior'. It transcends most, even through the basic definitions of the words included. The Ultimate, a Warrior, The Ultimate Warrior. It isn't a moniker that can be given to a mere human being, a name that could only have fit in the time that Warrior came to prominence and had a short life-span to say the least.

Jim Hellwig, on the other hand - that is a universal name for professional wrestling. Whether it was the cartoonish times of the 80s, the gritty Attitude of the last 90s or the realism of today's product, Jim Hellwig simply works for all three. 'Hellwig' is too ridiculous to avoid cartoonism, but it is simultaneously believable as a God-given name.

Jim Hellwig could have been a heroic babyface, a tortured tweener or even a cold heel. It feels weird to type, but The Ultimate Warrior has a short span. Jim Hellwig is forever, even if the man legally changed his name to the one he used in the ring.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
