The demise of The Headshrinkers can't be blamed on the fact Samu was forced to step away from the ring to heal injuries. Fingers can't even be pointed towards the fresh addition of Sione (who had previously played The Barbarian) to replace Samu in the team. No, it was that awful storyline during which Captain Lou Albano tried to domesticate the Samoan savages.

On television, it was said that Samu hadn't been coping well with Albano's attempts to make The Headshrinkers more civil. Think about that for a second. A wrestling team called The Headshrinkers, who had always been presented as barbaric wild men, were now going to be wrestling in boots and moving on from their uncivilised ways.

Did anyone really think this would work? Fans would've been happier with a continuation of the classic gimmick rather than this guff. By forcing Fatu and Sione to wear boots and stop acting like wild animals, the WWF stripped The Headshrinkers of everything that had helped make them unique.
