Again, it's not the WWF's fault that Bill 'Ax' Eadie's health problems meant his in-ring career was hanging in the balance by 1990, but did they really need to try and shoe-horn someone new into the Demolition gimmick? Ax and Smash had been one of the promotion's best teams since 1987, and they deserved a better end than this.

Crush joined the Demo ranks shortly after WrestleMania VI. That event had marked an incredible high for the team, because they'd just become three-time World Tag-Team Champions in front of 60,000+. Fast forward a few shorts months though and things looked bleak, not only because of Eadie's health but also due to the inclusion of Crush.

Once Ax faded into the background and Crush became more prominent, the wheels had come off the Demolition gimmick completely. In retrospect, the company were only trying to extend the shelf life of a cherished act, but they should have thought twice about trying.
