10 Awesome UFC Fighters Who Went On Terrible Runs
1. Tito Ortiz
And now to Liddell's latest executioner, Tito Ortiz.
The Huntington Beach Bad Boy was Mr.UFC, kicking some serious ass for almost six years straight from 1997 onwards.
Coming into his super fight with Randy Couture at UFC 44, Ortiz had put together a decent 10-2 MMA record. But, his record breaking run as UFC Light Heavyweight champion would end that night.
Desperate to regain some credibility, he then took on Chuck Liddell for the first time inside a UFC octagon and lost that fight, too.
He'd recover with a five fight win streak, however that gave way to another run of five bouts without a win.
Only fighting four more times for UFC after this torrid run, Ortiz would lose three of those and leave the company after his defeat to Forrest Griffin.
He would enjoy an upturn outside of the most competitive promotion on the planet - winning four of his next five fights in Bellator and Golden Boy - but his career never truly recovered from that initial knock back, in the form of Couture's title win.
