Wrestling's constant evolution means it's hard to go back as far as 1987, but WarGames' very first match stands among the best. WCW were looking for an appropriate way to end the lengthy Dusty Rhodes/Four Horsemen saga, and 'The American Dream' came up with the concept himself, aligning with Nikita Koloff, The Road Warriors, and Paul Ellering for the occasion.

The Horsemen lineup of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Lex Luger, Tully Anderson, and manager JJ Dillon stood across from them, creating a match unlike anything anyone had ever seen before.

The atmosphere inside the building was molten, with the audience going nuts for every move. It was a battle of pride, guts, and determination, with the crowd firmly behind Dusty and his boys, while Flair hammed it up with some classic heel work. 'The Nature Boy' and his stable worked the fans to perfection, but this is professional wrestling. The good guy always wins in the end, and Flair and co. were inevitably served a humbling loss by the final bell.

It was Dillon who ended up eating defeat. He submitted after taking an awkward landing on a Doomsday Device, creating one of the era's most satisfying heel comeuppance moments.
