Mustafa Ali was about to have his heart broken again.

For the second time in 2019, the former 205 Live staple was about to grab hold of a life-changing opportunity, only to be dealt the cruelest hand imaginable. In February, a real life injury had cost him a spot in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. This kayfabe barrier might have been even more devastating.

When Brock Lesnar's music hit, Ali froze in fear long enough for 'The Beast' to hit the ring and send both him and the ladder crashing to the floor. Lesnar took the case and the glory yet again in a bit of all-too-typical sh*t-disturbing from WWE's creative top table. But the element of surprise was everything.

As per the usual wrestling rumour mill, Ali and the rest of the selling challengers were told of a late arrival coming to claim the prize, but weren't advised it would be the former Universal Champion returning just a month after losing for what many speculated would be the last time. Ali's shock was much like an actual move within a match - he knew something was coming, but the sell was as real as it got.
