10 Awesome WWE Ideas That Didn't Last

7. The Bobby Heenan Show

Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan was arguably the biggest heel in the then-WWF as the '80s became the '90s. Company stories generally revolved around big babyface stars taking on members of the Heenan Family, with most of the crowd’s anger directed at the Broadcast Journalist they lovingly referred to as a ‘weasel’.

Heenan was a multi-talented media man, and his talents were briefly put to the test in ‘The Bobby Heenan Show’. The programme was essentially a real talk show with real guests, not entirely wrestling-based but with the odd wrestling tinge. It came about after Heenan walked off Primetime Wrestling, getting himself the final 30 minutes of that two-hour broadcast to stick it to Gorilla Monsoon.

Heenan interviewed all sorts in what was seemingly an entirely improvised show, showcasing the incredible talents of The Brain. It was a riot, to say the least. Sadly the show only lasted four episodes, as the ratings didn’t quite match the entertainment value.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
