Many many wrestling fans hear the term "No Mercy", they will no doubt think of the classic Nintendo 64 video game that has yet to be surpassed or even matched in terms of greatness, but the name originated as a 1999 UK-only PPV that soon became a traditional PPV. The event ran for the next ten years and featured some very memorable matches, including the very first Tag Team Ladder Match between Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz, Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker in their first Hell In A Cell Match in 2002, and the 2008 Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. It has its roots in the Attitude Era, but the No Mercy PPV would be welcomed back into the WWE fold today. Assuming WWE continue to have difficulty securing their first choice for their Fall PPV name (more on that later), No Mercy would be a great event for October, the month in which it was always held. It's not the greatest PPV name that's sitting in the proverbial closet, but it's big enough to crack the top five. The event sounds strong enough to attract an audience looking for some physicality, which is great for October, but also goes beyond the initial reaction of ruthlessness and touches on some classic moments of WWE's past. That's a winning combination for any PPV event.
