Over the past few years, WWE have had a real problem with the annual Royal Rumble match. The bout is one of the longest-running in company history, but fans haven't accepted WWE's picks to win it recently. The likes of Batista and Roman Reigns have not been popular choices, so it's important that the promotion get it right in 2016. There's a lot of pressure on WWE to give fans a satisfying Rumble winner in the new year. People were crying out for Daniel Bryan to win the thing over the past few years, but that was shunned in favour of trying to force fans to accept management's hand-chosen babyface heroes. 2016 will be important, because it could dictate how seriously fans take the Rumble going forward. Right now, there are theories that either John Cena or Roman Reigns could be the one to have their hand raised. Neither of these men would go down well with the hardcore audience. Due to the scrutiny over the Royal Rumble, it'll be awesome to see if WWE can pull the proverbial rabbit from the hat. It's utterly vital that the 30-man match winner appeals to fans.
