10 Awesome WWE Returns RUINED By Awful Reactions

Even considering the confines of the Thunderdome were involved, this feels like it should have been a much bigger deal.

Zayn was returning four months after being stripped of the Intercontinental title due to non-competition (in reality, he chose not to compete due to COVID.) In his absence, the IC Title had continued to be defended, being in the hands of Jeff Hardy when Zayn returned.

This had the potential to be an intriguing angle - with two belts, would they be unified? Would Zayn keep madly running around saying he was the 'real' champion?

Unfortunately, his return was underwhelming. When his very familiar music hit, there was no discernable reaction from the thousands of screens ringing the ThunderDome, good or bad. As he ranted and raved about how Hardy was a fraud and a fake, the video screens could be seen behind him, and there appeared to be no real reactions to be seen.

Although, to be honest, neither Michael Cole nor Cory Graves seemed to really go out of their way to pump up his return or explain his absence.

Which is too bad. Zayn is nothing if not entertaining, and if this had taken place in front of a live crowd, the response would have enhanced his return and quite likely provided a more positive reception for the 'two belts' storyline.
