10 Awesome WWE Stars Who Returned Even Better Than Before
9. Lita
Lita was one of the most exciting female talents to ever grace WWE programming.
During her early days, much of her best work came alongside The Hardy Boys in Team Xtreme, where she’d mix it up with some of the greatest tandems in company history during those early TLC contests.
In April 2002 though, it all came grinding to a crushing halt as Lita suffered a neck injury whilst filming some scenes for the TV show Dark Angel. She’d soon undergo surgery, necessitating a 17-month hiatus from in-ring action before making her return on the Sep. 15, 2003 episode of Monday Night Raw, saving Trish Stratus from Molly Holly and Gail Kim.
Post-injury, Lita would spend less and less time in the shadow of Matt and Jeff, partly because they weren’t even a full-time team anymore but also because she was busy helping to elevate the women’s division to unprecedented heights.
Alongside Trish, Lita would participate in the first-ever women-only match to main event Raw, and continued to blaze a trail by also facing Victoria in the first-ever women’s cage match in WWE history.
These days there’s a lot of talk of a 'Women’s Revolution' in WWE, but you could argue that revolution already took place with Lita in the years that followed her recovery from that devastating neck injury.
