Dustin Rhodes is no stranger to WWE returns. Having initially featured for the company at the turn of 1991, he’d later return in 1995 as Goldust, the sexually-suggestive, androgynous Bizarre One. Breaking ground along the way, he’d help himself to three Intercontinental Championships and become one of the most infamous characters in WWE history.

That in itself was much more than he achieved during those first few months on the company’s books in the very early ‘90s, but he wasn’t done there.

Goldust would actually return to the company on five occasions in total, and while most of his subsequent stints were relatively brief, his most recent spell has been responsible for what is likely the best work of his entire career.

Making his comeback in 2013, Goldust looked like a man reborn. Appearing to be in the most impressive physical shape of his life -despite being well into his mid-40s - he’d feature in an epic tag team run with his real-life half-brother Cody Rhodes, usurping The Shield on their way to two Tag Team Championship victories.

You could argue that haul doesn’t compare to the three Intercontinental title wins from his late-90s run, but for the shape he was in and the work that he produced, it’s his most recent return that stands out more than any other.
