10 Awesome WWE Wrestling Match Sequels No One Ever Talks About

Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle put on an elite display of athleticism, psychology and storytelling at Vengeance (2005) in the much anticipated follow-up to one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time.

It originated from Angle being drafted to Raw in June (when the Draft actually mattered) and Shawn Michaels wasting no time in challenging him to a rematch, seeking vengeance (pun intended) for tapping out to Angle at WrestleMania 21.

At Vengeance they once again stole the show on a stacked card, with many fans considering this just as great in-ring as their WrestleMania 21 clash. It just doesn’t have the same fanfare for not taking place on The Grandest Stage of Them All, but it certainly had as much drama and near falls as their first match though. Michaels sold Angle’s suplexes and Ankle Lock like no other, riving in pain, and Angle lived up to his ‘Wrestling Machine’ moniker throughout.

The finish was unorthodox too, with Angle going to the top rope (a rarity in Angle matches) and jumping off, only for Michaels to counter with Sweet Chin Music for the much-deserved win.
