Long before he was main eventing Monday Night Raw on the regular or taking on 'Tribal Chiefs' at WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes was a young, up-and-coming talent looking to make an impact during the 2008 Royal Rumble.

And what better way to get some attention than to target the biggest legend in the squared-circle at the time, eh?

Cody's bold call to attack The Undertaker during that year's over-the-top-rope spectacular, though, soon led to an easily missed error that the star openly chuckled about to Inside the Ropes later down the road.

After trying to dump CM Punk out of the match in the wake of entering at #13, a panicked Rhodes sprinted at 'The Deadman' and decided to smack him as hard as he could.

But instead of sending the excited rookie flying, 'Taker actually ordered Rhodes to dropkick him.

And while this was understandably one of the coolest things that had ever happened to the rising star at the time, that surreal exchange was soon followed by a stunned Cody pretty much forgetting where he was.

Rather than try to pick up 'The Phenom' and eliminate him from the bout, an inexperienced Rhodes could be seen freezing for what likely felt like a lifetime before awkwardly opting to chuck some fake punches at John Morrison in the corner.

It may not have stuck out all that much during the 30-person epic on the night, but seeing the eventual AEW EVP hilariously get lost in the bizarre moment here sticks out like a sore thumb once you know the behind-the-scenes 'Taker story.
