3. The Basham Brothers

These two had significant history prior to their main roster call-up in mid-2003. Wrestling as Doug Basham and Damaja, they were OVW Southern Tag Team Champions for close to 100 days, before transitioning into a lengthy singles feud that carried much of the developmental brand's late 2002 programming. Then, finally, the company deemed them ready for the big time, and reunited their team by rechristening Damaja as Danny, having him shave his head, and bringing in former Tough Enough competitor Linda Miles as Shaniqua, their dominatrix manager.

The two gimps were dominant in a feud with the APA, and used this momentum to take the Tag Team Championships from Eddie and Chavo Guerrero on an episode of SmackDown. Though impressive in the win column, their act wasn't getting over. The gimmick stunk, neither was particularly dynamic between the ropes, and they couldn't get over, labouring their way to victory after victory in a lame 105-day run that was eventually ended by Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty's hands in early 2004.

Becoming a preliminary team in the aftermath, the Bashams eventually joined JBL's Cabinet stable, then worked as Paul Heyman's ECW enforcers, before being cut loose entirely in 2007.
