5. Public Enemy
ECW had its fair share of memorable tag teams through the years, from the aforementioned Dudleys to The Eliminators to The Gangstas to FBI to The Pitbulls to The Impact Players, and many in between. However, the one team that might stand out the most is the team of Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge, better known as The Public Enemy. Rock and Grunge were two white guys with the gimmick of being immersed in what was perceived as "black culture". They came to the ring to rap music. They wore baggy clothes and dabbled in graffiti. They liked to dance to everything they did. At the time, with gang culture becoming more and more popular in America, Public Enemy had a twist on their gimmick. They weren't trying to be "gangbangers", threatening to shoot and kill everyone. Instead, they were all about having a good time. A non-stop party life, with music and dancing. They were fun, and the crowds appreciated them for it. It was an interesting take on the "wigger/chav" lifestyle. Like many of the original ECW workers, however, they were pigeonholed into a certain style of wrestling because, really, it's the only thing they could do. They could brawl with the best of them, but when it came time to do something other than brawl, they couldn't make it happen. That was a common theme with the company, and with the people involved in this list.
