10 Bad-Ass ECW Gimmicks Wasted On Terrible Wrestlers

4. Sabu

Sabu Sabu is definitely a strong candidate to be on the "Mount Rushmore Of ECW" if you were to create one. His is a name that always comes up when you discuss the company. He put everything on the line for the hardcore movement, and his body features the scars to prove it. The theme that was mentioned in the previous entry? It definitely applies here. Sabu was as "extreme" as anyone, not afraid to jump off of things, crash through tables, play with barbed wire, and endanger his own well-being to make sure his opponents suffered. However, what did he bring to the table in matches where he couldn't do those types of things? Well, for one, those matches were few and far between for him, as he was protected tremendously by the company, but when they happened, they were an absolute mess. Hell, even during his more hardcore matches, you could always count on multiple botched moves and numerous sloppy-looking spots. He rushed everything he did, and it showed. As the "silent but deadly" Arab character, he required handlers and managers, not only to cut promos for him, but to keep him contained, as he was "crazy" (he would come to the ring in his earlier ECW days strapped to a gurney with a muzzled mask on his face). Watching Sabu was like watching someone who really was crazy, and you had no idea what he would do next at any time, so you had to be on your toes. It's too bad that his opponents had to feel that way, as well.
