10 Bad-Ass WWE Gimmicks Wasted On Terrible Wrestlers

8. Sean O'Haire

WWE.comWWE.comSean O'Haire was one of the biggest rookies in wrestling in 2000, coming out of nowhere in WCW to become one of the more talked-about names in wrestling. 6'6" tall, 270 pounds, and what everyone agreed was "the look"... he had "future star" written all over him. He was one-half of the WCW Tag Team Champions (with Chuck Palumbo) when WCW was purchased by Vince McMahon, and they came over in the sale. Within two months of debuting for the WWF, they had dropped their titles and split up, with O'Haire being sent down to OVW. With random matches on B-shows not working, he got a gimmick change, and vignettes started airing for him in a Devil's Advocate role. In the vignettes, he would tell people not to pay their taxes, not to go to church, to cheat on their spouses, and so forth. It was different. It was provocative. It got people talking. He could never quite put in together in the ring, though. He hadn't progressed since his rookie year, and he couldn't make a connection with live crowds. Even being associated with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper for a few months couldn't help him with crowds, and the gimmick was soon scrapped, sending him back to OVW yet again until he was released outright. All that potential wasted on someone that didn't seem to care very much.
