By 2005 Kurt Angle was firmly established as one of WWEs most talented wrestlers. In just a few short years Kurt had cemented himself as a future hall of famer with countless amounts of great matches, feuds and moments. In 2005 Kurt had been around the block and could do it all. Need an effective heel or babyface? Kurts your man. Need a great worker to carry a lesser talent to a decent match? Call Kurt. In the first half of 2005 Kurt notably had scorchers with John Cena and Eddie Guerrero and had a genuine classic with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 21. So when WWE paired Kurt up with Booker T, another highly capable worker, in the summer of 05, expectations were naturally high. The WWE writers went some way to muting those expectations when they added a rather worrying layer to Angles character. You see, it seemed that the Olympic gold medallist was more concerned with having sex with Bookers wife Sharmell than he was of beating the Book in the ring. Things started off on a decidedly vulgar note when Kurt referred to Mrs. T as a gutter sl*t and claimed that he wanted to have sex with her. Not just any sex but perverted sex. In case the message wasnt clear, our Olympic hero cleared things up when he claimed that he would really enjoy engaging in some bestiality sex with Sharmell. During that nights Angle vs Booker main event, Kurt left the match midway through to find Sharmell and it was implied that he was having his way with her in the locker room. All of this led to a match at Judgement Day where, before their match, Kurt sent Sharmell a box of lingerie and handcuffs as a present/threat. Booker won the match and Sharmell got some payback by handcuffing Angle to the ropes and kicking him in a place that really hurts. Implying that Angle was a rapist was a serious miss-step by WWE and caused the bleep team at Sky Sports in the UK to work overtime as they tried to censor his disturbing verbiage
