While the WWEs male fan base was more than happy to watch Trish Stratus, The Kat, Terri Runnels and Torrie Wilson strut around the ring half naked in the early millennium, they were not as keen to see the late Mae Young do the same. Unfortunately for fans attending the 2000 Royal Rumble, they got that and a whole lot more when the then 76 year-old Mae entered herself in the Miss Royal Rumble 2000 swimsuit contest. Not content with simply wearing a bikini like the other contestants, Mae decided to take it off and expose her breasts to the crowd, despite the protests of Jerry Lawler and everyone in the arena. Luckily for those in attendance Mae was wearing a prosesthesis and was not showing her actual breasts. Even more luckily for those watching at home the WWE had a giant red X cover most of the screen although it didnt quite cover all of Maes fake knockers. This stunt came a month after Miss Kitty had flashed the crowd at Armageddon, an act which angered many TV watchdogs including the WWEs long-time rival the Parents Television Council. Maes escapades cost WWE dearly in the UK where Channel 4 bosses were irate with the stunt and the overall content of the pay-per-view. The channel decided to drop WWE from its programming as soon as their contract expired in December 2001.
