10 Behind The Scenes Secrets WWE Don't Want You To Know

4. Are You Good?

One of the key things that wrestling fans learn as they get older and wiser is that the referee is a lot more important than he looks. As well as helping the performers keep time, for instance, he also has a role to play in seeing that they don't get hurt.

That's why whenever a wrestler does something stupid (stupid as in brilliant) like a springboard backflip halfway up the entrance ramp, the ref will immediately rush to their side like a dutiful puppy wondering whether their owner is still able to get their dinner out.

Since saying "I'm good" in in the middle of a match is generally frowned upon, they often let the man in the black and white stripes they're OK by gently squeezing his fingers after he's placed them in or near their hand.

It's kind of sweet, really, although it does have the potential to go wrong if the wrestler has broken all of their fingers and is therefore unable to make a fist. In that situation, saying "I'm not feeling great" out loud is probably permissible.
