Oh, Finn, so much promise.

When WWE reintroduced the brand split in 2016, one of the many NXT names called up to the main roster was former and longest-reigning NXT Champion, Finn Bálor.

The Irishman wasted no time in making a name for himself, winning a fatal four-way and beating Roman Reigns in singles action on his very first night on Raw to earn himself a match at SummerSlam for the newly-minted Universal Championship.

Bálor fought a then-heel Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in a brilliant match. Two of WWE's best in-ring workers put on a classic - and the match is now forever a part of WWE's history, because it ended with Bálor defeating Seth to become the first ever Universal Champion less than a month after his call-up.

Sadly, the match is also famous for leaving Bálor with the injured shoulder that forced him to relinquish the belt the very next night.

Whilst he hasn't been the same since, Balor came into WWE white hot - and the fact that Vince McMahon was willing to put his biggest championship around his waist spoke volumes about what he thought of Finn.

Let's just cross everything and hope that, one day, The Demon King may rise again.
