10 Best Active Wrestlers Over 40

5. Eddie Kingston

Of AEW's many. many problems this year, one of the biggest has been their utter failure to capitalize on Eddie Kingston.

Coming off his blistering feud with CM Punk last year, Kingston was arguably the hottest act in wrestling. Hell, he had people booing Punk back when the latter was still being viewed as a wrestling messiah (instead of a very naughty boy). Unfortunately, Kingston's career soon hit a speed-bump in the shape of Chris Jericho.

Eddie's feud against the former Y2J feud went on for over seven months, and the longer it dragged on the more it drained the heat Kingston had worked so hard to build for himself. Sure, it led to some cool moments, but it ended with Jericho on top and Kingston feeling like a far lesser deal than he had previously. Throw in a real-life feud with Jericho's stablemate Sammy Guevara that led to Kingston being written off a PPV, and you have the perfect recipe for how not to capitalize on a rising star.

Kingston simply feels like less of a deal than he did this time last year, and that's a damn shame. Wrestlers with Eddie's charisma are few and far between, and AEW are making a big mistake by not utilizing his ability to connect with a crowd.
