10 Best AEW Entrance Themes
7. The Lucha Bros.
"Generic trap."
- Andy Murray
The Great Man has great taste in music, and he's not wrong, but this achieves the desired effect. The drum beat is generic, for trap aficionados, but it's striking in the context of pro wrestling because it's so rarely used elsewhere.
There's an otherworldly, ominous quality to the synthesisers in the sting, too, one that expertly grasps the scary element of the Lucha Brothers act. It feels like stepping foot in a mystical temple, and the trap backing tethers it from the realm of silly; much like the act's awesome fusion of traditional, spectacular lucha and western ultra-violence, the theme is an inspired mash-up of haunting badass craftsmanship. It's let down by the lyrics, but the lyrics are mostly incidental to wrestling themes and are generally Not Great.
'Lucha Brothers / Mexican / Cero miedo / Meet us in the ring' is effectively 'Seth Rollins / American / Burn it down / Nah dawg, I make more money than you' - but the say-what-you-see element isn't too distracting, nor are the deeply basic rhyming couplets.
