10 Best AEW Entrance Themes
8. Darby Allin
A drastic departure from the usual form of a wrestling theme, fit for a drastic departure from the usual form of a pro wrestler, 'I Fell' doesn't hit the usual remit - but works because of it.
It might have been tempting, to marry the alt aspects of Allin's act with a broader, louder sub-genre of punk rock - hardcore, horror - that might better ignite an arena crowd. But this gothic, Bauhaus-inspired lurcher is infinitely more cool, assured and interesting.
The gloomy intro doesn't provoke an insta-pop, but is consistent with Allin's brooding character. Lyrically, it's a mission statement for his babyface credentials. Allin doesn't fight for nor rely on anybody for support: he "can't sleep" because his "head's on fire. He hates "creeps and liars", and the creeping, spooky quality of the verse intensifies that loathing.
He fights because an old, eternal family tragedy spurs him to, and the relentless aspect of his character is translated with a monster of a chorus that belatedly gets the crowd behind his cleansing, crazed crowd appeals.
