10 Best Babyface WWE Champions Of The Last Decade
4. Sami Zayn (NXT Champion)
Don't be sad that it ended so quickly; just be glad that it happened at all. This is what NXT fans had to tell themselves after Sami Zayn lost the title he'd worked so hard to achieve after only 62 days. Still, if the job of a babyface is to give the fans a great moment, and set up the next big villain of the story, then Zayn did it better than anyone else has in NXT.
During the reinvention of NXT from gameshow to full-on promotion, Sami Zayn indeed was the babyface hero. His optimistic attitude, happy smile and fantastic wrestling skills made him an instant favourite. Still, it was his status as an underdog that carried him through the brand.
Fans were desperate to see Zayn get a shot at the title, and it seemed that he was the perfect choice to end the meteoric reign of Adrian Neville. In a title vs career match, Zayn finally achieved his goal, and it was one of the biggest feel-good moments in the brand's history.
Sadly, his win was smeared by constant attacks from his former best friend Kevin Owens, who he soon dropped the title to. But, it's better to leave them wanting more than to overstay your welcome.
